Daniel Tidbury is an internationally acclaimed British abstract artist and ceramicist based in Emsworth, a picturesque harbour village nestled between Chichester and Portsmouth on the southern coast of the UK. Drawing inspiration from the natural beauty of the South Downs National Park and Chichester Harbour, Tidbury's work resonates with collectors worldwide.
A self-taught artist, Tidbury began his artistic journey in 2016, producing striking, spontaneous abstract paintings on canvas. His early works featured broad, expressive impasto marks in acrylics, often depicting dramatic seascapes and skyscapes. Over time, he expanded his practice to include large-scale acrylic pouring and chemical dispersion techniques, revealing the unpredictable beauty of liquid paint. These works, resembling aerial views of Earth, showcase his constant exploration of new artistic expressions.
In addition to his paintings, Tidbury creates unique handmade ceramics under the Emsworth Pottery brand. Working with porcelain and stoneware, he produces functional and decorative pieces characterised by distinctive glazes and textures. Each item is meticulously crafted in his home studio, reflecting his commitment to quality and artistry.
Tidbury's work has been featured in various exhibitions and publications, including the Emsworth Art Trail, Aesthetica Magazine, and Town & City Magazine. His art continues to captivate audiences, offering a blend of abstract expression and tactile craftsmanship.
